Manuscript Formatting Guidelines
- Double-space
- 1-inch margins all around
- 12 point Times New Roman or equivalent serif font
- Paragraphs indicated by 1/2" indents (tabs), not by an extra line space
- Here's a link to a Word How-to for the above: (How to:)
Manuscripts should begin about halfway down the page. Your legal name, pen name
(if any), address, phone, and e-mail should be placed in the upper left corner of the manuscript, in a single-spaced
block. The word count (rounded to the nearest 100) should go in the upper right corner. Your title should be centered
on the page at the halfway point, in the same font and size as the text. Skip two lines (hit Enter twice) and center
your byline (either your real name or your pen name) in 12-point font. Skip another two lines and
begin your manuscript with Chapter 1.

What should be your takeaway from this? Don't do
anything fancy. Simplicity, clarity, and readability are your goals. Achieve that and you can't go too far wrong.
Happy writing!
